The History of 4K TV
4K TV has been around since 2014. In 2015 the price of 4K TVs dropped significantly, allowing more people to buy 4K TVs. By 2025, a majority of American households are predicted to have a 4K television (which is much quicker than people took to 1080p TVs!).
4K Content
4K content is something that is developing as 4k TV gets older. Simply put, any movie needs to be either recorded and mastered in 4K – or re-mastered in 4K to be a 4k movie.
Simply put, 4k resolution means a horizontal resolution of about 4,000 pixels, in contrast to the roughly 2,000 pixels of 1080p TVs.
4K Streams
4k streams aren’t easy to come by either, at least not yet. You need to look at YouTube, torrent sites, or individual 4K stream sites to find 4K video streams. We have a handy guide for 4k video streams, in fact.
4K Blu Rays
4k Blu Rays have been released to watch on 4K TV for some time now. Pick them up for as little as $8 and get a 4K Blu Ray player to play your new 4K Blu Rays on. 4K movies have never looked so good.
The Future of 4K: 8K and Beyond
4K is just the current iteration of HD digital displays. 8K is next up after 4K. You guessed it – 8K will be 8,000 pixels instead of the 4,000 pixels of 4K. This will give 8K twice the resolution of 4K TV and 4x the amount of pixels. Since U.S. households will take another 10 years to fully adopt 4K TV, 8K is still a ways off.
Immersive Ultra High Definition 4K
